The lake is approximately
9 acres in total set in woodland. There are a variety of berths
around the lake. There is good shelter around the whole lake, being
set in a wooded valley.
We also have a number of
floating interlocking pontoons, which can be used to simulate
harbour complex's etc.
One of the major areas for remodelling
the lake has been the construction of a canal. There is a much
longer straight section than our canal at Marchwood, with sloping
and vertical banking. The canal also has a "horsehoe" bend. The canal
having been designed on our simulator at Warsash should be very good for demonstrating bank effect. The canal
is also very good to demonstrate ship to ship interaction exercises,
in meeting head to head and overtaking.
We can also produce
current in any part of the lake with a portable current generator.
